Sweet 16…
We started off today by doing a few pages of our px2 folders and the topic was self esteem leading use to talk about some pressure that both boys and girls are under. This has shown us why we need to believe in ourselfs and others to achive what we want in life. Today we also used our communicatons skills to convince local shops to donate prizes for our fund raiser in brauty ferry at the end of it we seemed to have gathered a few very good prizes to use in the raffle . After wich we had a little team bonding at the park to go nuts and have fun i think i can safely say this has been one of the best sessions yet. Later on in the day we met a few girls from last years quest, they came in to give us some prizes.

Today We worked on employability, filling out what our strengths were and what past experience we have had. This makes us think about what employers are looking for. As Richard has done employability he helped some of us and also sent thank you letters to the Dragons from last week. We then went into teams, pairing up the confident people with people who were not so confident and went about shops asking if they had prizes for a raffle. A few people stayed behind and called businesses and also sent out letters to see if they could donate any prizes. We managed to get a couple of things but a lot of places told us to go to their headoffice. Next week we are going to broughty ferry. We also worked on action plans and self asesments and had discussions with partners on how we have improved or changed in the 6 weeks we have been here. For a treat we all went to jimmy chungs and it was a great day as a team.

Today we came back after the october hoildays. we designed all our presentation in our different groups and then we went through it all as a big group to partice doing it to the dagons den then this after noon we peformed to the dargons den it went dead well we got the money we wanted and we had good confidence on how to peform to the dargon den. Everybody was feeling kind of nervous but once we done it our conifdence was better and we werent nervous at all. The dagons gave us great feedback and asks LOTS of triky questions! When the dagon’s left we had a review and made up a rap for trying to get prizes for the raffel. We all felt fab when we left.
Today we started the day with the px2 which was about self talk and how you are what you think you are. During this we watched a Mohammed Ali video on how you control your thoughts. We all done a review on the residential to see how it went, everyone enjoyed this and we all want to go back on our profits! No-one thought of anything that we could have improved on except having the human demolition there!! We also done another self assessment, some of our skills had improved since we done our 1st one in the first week. We then went on to work on Dragon’s Den presentation and allocated everyone to a team such as Financing, Operations, Marketing and Sales. We were given time to prepare our presentation then done a run through. We had a group discussion about how we done and got feedback from the others. We are wanting to make a lot of money and it was suggested we do another fundraiser – a bagpack. Ashley is going to try and organise this in Asda.
We are are workplacement next week then off on holiday…. Cammy & Joe

Do we look scared........
We first met at a car park in Dundee. Then we set of for Aberfeldy. Everyone was excited because before we left we had to go to Tescos and get our shopping. We all had to go into teams and get the food that was on our list. After that we all had to go on the bus, it took us about 2 hours to get here. We came to the craggan, pick our rooms and put our stuff in. We then went white water rafting with freespirits, it was quite scary but was great fun. We would like to thank freespirit for giving us a great experience. After the rafting we all came back to the Craggan and Kevin and Franny made pizza and chips for tea. After tea we had some free time then all sat down and watched a movie before bed. We had to get up early the next day and everyone was so tired! We had to do 5 units of the PX2, there were lots of fun mini puzzles that we had to do. It also got us to think about ourselves and how we think. Then Nicole, Sara and Louise all made our dinner – chicken curry, rice and nan bread. After dinner we had to make a t-shirt, it was girls against boys and we had to present it to everyone. Louise done a catwalk with our one and Robbie done a cat walk with the boys one. Out t-shirt was the bomb, it was ‘bang tidy’ Everyone had a good laugh watching the models pose on the cat walk. Then after the GIRLS were chosen as the winners of the t-shirt design we all sat down and decided on what our business was going to be. We decided to do a bingo afternoon with snacks and stuff. We agreed to give 15% of our profit to the Maggie Centre. After that we all went out for a game of manhunt and had a really good laugh, everyone was sliding and falling, it was really funny. We also had a game of sardines…then we got told a ghost story whilst sitting looking over the Loch. We then went inside and had a game of fluffy bunnies which was hilarious. We then watch a few DVD’s then went to bed. Everyone had a good time and all hope to come back again!

Today we worked in groups to get to know each other more. We also had a visit from Chris Lundie who has his own cleaning and security company, we got to know more information on running our own business and what employers are looking for in an employee. He also answered questions that we had and gave us some tips on making our CV’s stand out. Lori also came today, she was on MyQuest previously and she told us how MyQuest helped here get a job and how it helped her get more confident.
In the afternoon we got put in 4 groups: We had to make up a routine on whos doing the cleaning, the 2nd group was shopping – they had to choose what food we were getting and if we had enough. 3rd group was cooking, deciding who was doing the cooking at the residential and the 4th one was what we should do thats safe (risk assessments). Different people got up and found out what people wanted to eat before we split up in our groups. We then fed back to everyone else to see that everyone was happy with what we were doing.
Next week is the residential :O Ashley
It was our 1st day at MyQuest, I thought it was scary at first as the only other person I knew was the one from my school and I don’t know her that well. We done lots of different activities and this helped us build up relationships with other people.

The activities were really helpful as it encouraged everyone to participate and join in. We were able to connect with each other.
We all filled in self assessment forms where we rated how good we were at different area’s and from these we drew up an action plan so we know where we need to work on. which has made us more at ease with one another.
Looking forward to week 2
Kevin
