The staff tutors have been working on the creation of a Web 2.0 Glow Group.

The main focus of this group is to highlight the educational potential of Web 2.0 features such as blogs, podcasts and wikis, and enable staff and pupils to share their experiences and ideas to facilitate further learning.

The Glow group will enable staff and pupils to access relevant information about aspects of Web 2.0, and will also contain links to useful websites. There will also be an area for discussions which will hopefully encourage the sharing of ideas across the city and beyond!

It’s great to see this, and I hope that there will be plenty of local-global groups within Glow that help people see the potential of the tools within and beyond Glow. They should marry together nicely.

I hope that we can create some nice little tools to aggregate different information for your group and others like it.

At Craigiebarns we are blogging regularly and are also using ‘Making the News’ to publise larger events. I have been looking at Podcasting and the Textease Software ‘Podium’ – - has anyone else used it – I would welcome their comments. I hope to link the pupils’ podcasts to our blog. Not tried it yet – don’t know if it will work. ….. watch this space.

A great idea for a glow group. Are you up for members outwith Dundee? Drop me an email if that is possible. Glow is all about collaboration across the country even if we are neighbouring authorities!

I have added pages to My Glow, one for Del.icio.us and the other for Netvibes – I have put page viewers in and now I can access all my favourites from within Glow.

It is great to see so many people interested in our Web 2.0 Glow Group. Miss R is absolutely correct when she says that GLOW is about communication, collaboration and sharing and it would be great to get as many members as possible from different authorities across Scotland. Anyone who has a specific interest in using features of Web 2.0 can be invited to join. If we are represented from lots of different authorities, then we can discuss and debate issues about Web 2.0 in order to improve the educational potential and facilitate further learning. As they say “Two heads are better than one.” :-)
