During the past few weeks the basketball team went to a tournament for the Tayside Basketball Championships and the Jake Moran cup.

The Forthill basketball team have done really well as they have won all the tournaments that they have played so far. The captains who teach the team are Callum and Chris who are in P7. Only about a few weeks ago they had asked Mrs Catto if they could start a basketball club on a Friday but Mrs Catto didn’t know that it would end up Forthill entering lots of basketball Tournaments and winning so much !

Well done Forthill !

As the Valentine’s Disco was postponed we had an Easter Disco on Thursday 2nd April 2009. The music was very enjoyable. Nobody knew the name of the DJ so Mrs Balfour, who was giving instructions down the microphone called him Mr Nice DJ Man. Mrs Balfour was really good at organising everything. Some of the music was Womaniser by Britney Spears and Loch Lomond by Runrig. It was a lot fun and we played party games such as pass the beanbag and over and under. There was also a tuck shop where you could buy food and you could get drinks for free. It finished at 9:15 when everyone went home.

P.5a Visited Falkland Palace this week. The class really enjoyed the visit. It was great fun. The children got to dress up as people from the middle ages. The girls wore skirts which were really long and when the walked they had to lift the skirt up so they wouldn’t trip. There was a tennis court in the garden and real or royal tennis was played there. It is the oldest tennis court in the world. King James the 4th & 5th built Falkland Palace and James 6th gave it a makeover. Unfortunately now some of it is in ruins. We learned a lot as well as walking a lot! We saw lots of interesting places in the town for example an old butchers’ shop and a horsemarket street.
