The Dundee City City Arts festival took place over three days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The strings group played a piece called Summer Stomp and the choir sang a song called Children of the World. The Strings group earned a gold award which is excellent and the choir earned a silver award which is also very good. Forthill was just one out of over twenty schools at the festival. Mrs Maynes, the conductor for the strings, thought we played very well and also looked really smart. Mrs Branny, the Music Teacher also praised us for our hard work at the festival. Everybody did very well and enjoyed it very much.

The Brass section of the Dundee Arts Festival took place on Wednesday 25th of March at 9:15 am. The Brass group had to meet at 8:45 in the school reception. We travelled there by bus but on the way we had to pick up brass players from Barnhill and Eastern. It was very interesting to hear tunes played by other schools. When the results were read out we were all very nervous but that didn’t matter because we got GOLD!!! We really enjoyed the whole morning and we thought it was brilliant.

Now it is nice weather the children are allowed on the grass and the equipment. The boys and girls play football and lots of other games. When there is a Red Flag don’t go on the grass because it might be dangerous.

Recently there has been a Cross Country club and a couple a weeks ago the team was chosen by Mrs McIrvine. On Wednesday the team went to Baxter’s Park for a 1500m ( just over a mile ) race with lots of Dundee schools. The teams were chosen in groups – P6 Girls , P6 Boys , P7 Girls and P7 Boys , so to be fair there were 4 races for each group. The Forthill team did very well as the Primary 6 boys won 1st place ! They won 2 shields , one to keep , and one to have for a year. They also got Team medals. The Primary 7 boys won 2nd place , so did very well too.

Well done Forthill !

Megan.

7a did an assembly on no smoking. They did a dance about what could happen if you smoke and did lots of drama about it and now you know why not to smoke. It was great.

Last Friday we raised money for Comic Relief. P5a organised a pyjama day and read stories to the little ones. We raised £923 by wearing our pyjamas. We had great fun:).
