Today was the last day of term at Forthill Primary School. It was also the last day of primary school for the P7s, who will be at Grove from August. Next term there will be a lot of changes at Forthill next term. We invite three new teachers, Miss Cumming, Mrs Geddes and Miss Franks. Mrs Mollison has retired so will no longer be working at Forthill, so Mrs Lee will take over as acting depute head.
We wish the best of luck to Primary 7s all the best at Grove, and we wish you all happy holidays and you will hopefully come back refreshed next term.

Today the P3A did a magnificent assembly about life cycles. They talked about frogs and caterpillars. The life cycles are very interesting. Well done

This morning Primary 1c did their assembly. It was a story about bumble bees. They told the story of a bee called Billy. Nobody wanted to be Billy’s friend because he didn’t have a buzz. Then he met some dragonflies who told the other bees that they should be his friend because its easier to be nice than to be nasty. Nobody forgot their lines and all the singing, dancing and acting was of a very good standard for being in Primary 1. The costumes were very good and they couldn’t have done it without the help of Miss Scrimgeour and Mrs Smith.
Well Done Primary1 and their teachers!

From 1:30 today the school is having an open afternoon when all the parents come to the school to see how their children are getting on. It is from 1:30 – 3:00 o’clock. Some of the children will be in the assembly hall because they have been doing different things in the school and some of the clubs will be there too. There will be some leaflets outside the assembly hall for all the sports that are happening outside school. So feel free to take one. It will be very nice for the parents to come and see how well we have all been doing.

On Wednesday some people from P5 and P6 went to Perth and played against other schools in Scotland they won one game and came 15th out of 16. Even though they didn’t get to go to England and play cricket they did very very well!

On Thursday 17th June all of the Primary 7s went to a World War II tea dance at the assembly hall at Grove Academy. Also there were Primary 7s from Eastern and Barnhill. We performed dances such as the Waltz, Foxtrot and The Virginia Reel. We also had a 1940’s style lunch with orange juice, cupcakes, jelly, sausages, sandwiches and sausage and pork rolls. The tables were also decorated with Union Jacks with a V for Victory cut out with the word thanks in the middle. Along with the Glenn Miller music and the 1940s clothing, it gave the dinner hall an authentic 1940s atmosphere.
Thank you to all who helped organise the Tea Dance.
