My class P.7b are getting Miss Martin for the 3rd time after the easter holidays. We were sad when we got told that Miss Conway was leaving but we were happy for her that she is getting a permanent job in Angus schools. I will miss her because she was a great teacher and football coach. I am excited to get Miss Martin again. So far in 7b my class have had three teachers and Miss Martin is soon to be the fourth on the day we come back to the school after the easter break.

Today in P4 we recorded the Barnhill song.
It was my birthday on the 1st of April and lots of friends came over. We had a game of armies and i got lots of presents. We went on the trampoline then we all had a slice cake, it was great.

Recently lots has been happening at Barnhill.

We had a very exciting and interesting BOOK WEEK. Authors visited the school and we met one author in a GLOW MEET. We asked this author lots of questions and he, Nick Hesketh told us all about writing, illustrating and his life. We took part in a READATHON and have raised so far about £1000 which will be used to develop reading at Barnhill. We had a BOOK SWAP and on Friday of book week we dressed up as characters (so did some of the teachers!). It was great fun!
There have been a number of sports’ competitions:
Cross Country – Barnhill won a gold in the P7 boys’ race – Well done Bradley! We also won a silver in the P7 relay race.
Monifieth Swimming Gala – We won this competition with a score of 47 points. Amy B in P7 broke a competittion record in the breast stroke race and the girls’ relay team also broke the competition record.
Netball – The P7 girls took part in and enjoyed the Angus Tournament.
Football – The girls took part in a festival and the boys are currently playing lots of league games.
Basketball – Again the team have been taking part in and enjoying Dundee Festival Competitions.
EURO QUIZ

A team of 4 P6 pupils represented the school n this competition. They came fourth and also enjoyed a European lunch at EDS when they took part in this competition.

As you all know since the end of January, there has been a problem with our blog. At the moment you cannot post on the blog because of technical difficulties. One of Dundee’s ICT staff tutors Elspeth and an engineer called Tim are both working extremely hard to sort this problem so that we can start blogging again.
I am keeping in touch with Elspeth and Tim and as soon as they fix this problem I’ll let you all know.

The P.7s are starting to practice songs on a Tuesday lunchtime for the Leng Medal. We are all choosing a verse and a chorus out of the three songs Mrs Lynn has picked-Mhari s wedding, Bonnie Dundee and Caledonia. We are all very nervous! I think it will be a close competition! When the judges come in February, they will pick the best singer and they will get the silver medal, then if you win that you get to go in for the gold at the Caird Hall! We are all very excited!

Last term our class went to visit the City Chambers. We went on a bus.We were lucky to go because it was very snowy. We got half way there and the deriver got a phone and when he was finished he said we got on the WRONG BUS.He was very nice though because he took us anyway. When we got there the person from the City Chambers came and got us and took us in.It was very interesting and we learned a lot about Dundee a long time ago.
